Cumulative visual acuity in Laser and Cataract Surgery
Updated on version: 1.0.3

cumulativeVA

This function computes the mean (standard deviation) and the median (interquartile range) of a matrix that contains visual acuity results from laser refractive surgery or cataract surgery with intraocular lenses. Computes the standard plot for the Journal of Refractive Surgery in order to report the Efficacy results of the procedure.

EXAMPLE PLOT:

Cumulative visual acuity in Laser and Cataract Surgery

DESCRIPTION:

The cumulative percentage of visual acuity is one of the standard plots for reporting the results of a cataract surgery procedure with intraocular lenses or a laser refractive surgery procedure.

This function calculates the standardized graph from a matrix of data of two columns whose content will depend on the procedure that we want to analyze. For example, if we want to analyze the results after a cataract procedure, the two-column matrix should contain the visual acuity without correction after surgery in the first column and the visual acuity with correction after surgery in the second one, each row representing the results of a subject. In the case of a laser surgery procedure, the first column will contain the visual acuity without correction after the procedure and the second column the visual acuity with correction before the surgery.

In the case of procedures with multifocal intraocular lenses, the function allows to modify the labels depending on whether the data entered correspond to results of far visual acuity, intermediate or near.

Online Course

How to obtain the Toolbox?

The Refractive Analysis is an Open Source Toolbox for Matlab developed by Rodríguez-Vallejo M for the Analysis of Vision Science Results. It is freely available for the students of our online course but you need the Matlab software to use it. Matlab software is not provided with the course.

How to enroll and follow the course?

You can enroll in the course by means of the Udemy Platform and follow the course on the same platform or through Udemy App for IOS or Android.

When the course starts and finish?

The course is asynchronous which means that it has no start or end date. The student can register whenever he wants and view the materials at his own pace.

After purchasing the course you will have lifetime access to the materials through the Udemy platform. This means that even if you complete the visualization of all the materials you will be able to access them again whenever you want to go over the content again or to the updates.
